Recommended Schedule for Preparing Your Master Thesis & Oral Exam
- The oral exam will be scheduled in May. If you cannot make it,
wait for 6 months until November. If you failed to meet that, wait for
another 6 months until next May.
- The manuscript of your master thesis must be submitted to the
committee one month before your oral exam. Should the committee have
some comments, you must revise your thesis according to the
comments of the committee, and work out a new version in a week.
Then re-submit the new version to the committee again. This
process will be continued until the committee feels satisfied about your
thesis.
- Before the manuscript can be submitted to the committee, it must
be reviewed by your adviser. If any fatal error is found, it will
be returned to you right away. If 5 minor errors (e.g.
grammatical mistakes, spelling errors, inconsistent wording) are
found, it will be returned to you right away. This process will
be continued in a weekly base until no further error is found.
Therefore, if you want to make sure you can finish your master
thesis in time, begin preparing for it as early as possible.
- How "early" should you begin? Generally it is recommended that
you finish all your implementation before the end of winter
vacation, and begin writing your thesis in February.
